Olive Remodel
Where old soul meets modern spirit.
Remodeling an early 20th-century Arts and Crafts home for new inhabitants with distinctly modern sensibilities made the Olive Remodel a study in balance. The addition doesn’t attempt to mimic the past—instead, it engages in conversation with it.
Dark walnut, already present in the original home, becomes the material bridge—linking old and new with warmth and continuity. From floors to cabinetry, it grounds the expanded spaces and honors the house’s original character.
Into this familiar palette, we introduced bold new elements: crisp geometry, graphic tile patterns, and modern detailing that reflect the personality of the current owners. These contemporary moves are calibrated through scale and craft—ensuring they speak in harmony with the intricacy of the original home.
The result is not contrast for its own sake, but a layered evolution. A house that still knows where it came from, yet isn’t afraid to show who lives there now.
